About The Ranking
The idea of a vodka ranking came after I tasted Belvedere for the first time and it tasted so good, so soft and smooth, hitting me strong but with a lovely taste and I thought, this is even better than Grey Goose, which until that day, to my knowledge and consideration was the best vodka out there. The next morning when I woke up and remembered immediately the great night Belvedere provided me. I went to confirm that decision I had thought to myself the previous night, that Belvedere was even better than Grey Goose, thus, Belvedere had to be the best vodka in the world.
The first thing I did was google "vodka rankings" and to my amazement I didn't find any clear list providing me with the best tasting vodkas, and it also surprised me the domain name 'vodkaranking.com' was also available... 2 weeks later it wasn't, as I registered it as soon as the holidays were over.
The ranking is based purely on other 21 vodka rating lists, among them: Forbes, NY Times top 21 vodkas, Russian National Vodka Review, Slate Magazine, etc. 100 Points were given to the top vodka of each list, then 99 to the second, 98 to the third, and so on... at the end my own list was taking a pattern, a good one, in which to be at the top a vodka didn't ony had to appear first in a couple lists, but also appear in as much lists as possible. In the end I'm very happy with the results, I guess most of us would agree with Belvedere leading the ranking. Although Stolichnaya is better ranked than Grey Goose and Smirnoff vodka appearing in the top 10 disappointed me, but it was the official result of the compilation of all the data collected around the internet from all reliable vodka lists. And with further research I found out Sminorff vodka has recently won many awards from tasting competitions, etc and that Grey Goose is just pure marketing, a vodka brand created just to target an specific super-premium market.
